We at Pirate Paintball would like to take the time to address the issue of paintball safety.

Paintball is one of the safest sports as compared to other non-violent sports as reported by insurance companies. Statistically even safer than golf! At Pirate Paintball we have a good number of staff and safety is instructed even before the start of any games.

SAFETY CHECK LIST

1. All players and spectators must have on approved eye protection at all times when inside the protective netting of paintball play as well as the chronograph testing stage. Eye protection is enforced anywhere markers will be fired.

2. Paintball markers must be checked to insure that the velocity of the fired paintball doesn’t exceed 295 feet per second. All markers will be tested and subsequently retested if any changes are made to the marker.

This ensures that the goggles are able to work properly as well as insures that the paintball players will not be harmed by an excessive speeding paintball. This is one of the things that most parents and players overlook. Simply put you have to have a chronograph machine in order to check the paintball speed, even if you don’t plan on playing at the Pirate Paintball field, we hope that you will not neglect this very important step. Our chronograph will be set up every Saturday and Sunday that we are open.

3.Barrel plugs prevent an accidentally fired paintball from leaving the paintball marker. Plugs are used whenever not in side the field or at the chrono testing stage. All plugs must be in before removing goggles after a game has ended.

4.basic marker safety. Treat all markers as if loaded and ready to fire. Point markers down when not in play.

5.paintball themselves are made to withstand the pressure of a markers shot but to break upon impact. Paintballs are affected by their surroundings they will expand and contract depending on the humidity and temperature as time goes by the fill will harden. Old hard paintballs traveling at a safe velocity could still do damage. Any paintballs older than 6 mths old should be thrown out and replaced even if they look fine.

Remember to be responsible. Be careful and mindful of the surroundings. Always obey the direction of the field staff and rules of the field.
